Privacy notice
Privacy on a domestic violence website is a safety measure. It is designed in, not bolted on.
Last updated 2026-08-27
The short version
- This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts.
- Every font, image, style sheet and script is served from this site. No third-party requests are made from any page.
- You do not need an account, an email address or a name to read anything here.
- The site never asks for your location.
- Form data is never placed in a web address, and search terms typed into the resource directory never leave your browser.
Information you choose to send us
Two forms on this site collect information: the general contact form and the volunteer inquiry form. Both are administrative. Neither is a crisis service, and neither is monitored around the clock.
We ask only for what we need to reply: a name or preferred name, a safe email or phone number, your preferred contact method, a general reason for contacting us, and your message. Please do not send Social Security numbers, medical information, court documents, exact addresses, detailed accounts of abuse, or children’s identifying details through these forms.
Submissions are transmitted over an encrypted connection and delivered to Maxine’s Arms staff. They are retained only as long as needed to respond and to keep ordinary organizational records, and they are not sold, rented or shared for marketing.
Client and resident records
Records relating to shelter residents and people receiving services are kept separately from this website, under the organization’s confidentiality policies and applicable law. Nothing about a resident is ever published on this site.
Server logs
This site is hosted on Netlify. Like all web hosts, Netlify records basic technical request information such as IP address, timestamp and requested page for security and reliability purposes. Maxine’s Arms does not use those logs to build profiles of visitors and does not connect them to any individual.
Links to other organizations
Links to outside websites, such as national hotlines, are provided because they are useful. Those organizations have their own privacy practices. This site sends a no-referrer policy, so those sites are not told which page you came from.
Donations
Donations are processed by a third-party payment provider on their own systems. Maxine’s Arms does not receive or store card numbers. Donor names and contact details are used to acknowledge gifts and keep required records, and are never sold, rented or exchanged.
Children
This website is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from them.
If analytics are ever added
If Maxine’s Arms later needs usage measurement, it will use a privacy-respecting, cookie-free option that does not track individuals across sites, and this notice will be updated before it goes live.
