Five program goals, each with measurable objectives. This is the framework Maxine’s Arms is built on and reports against.

The five program goals

Provide Safe and Secure Emergency Shelter

A door that opens at any hour, and everything a person needs the moment they walk through it.

  1. 1.1Provide 24-hour emergency shelter services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual abuse, human trafficking, and other forms of abuse.
  2. 1.2Ensure all residents receive immediate access to food, clothing, hygiene supplies, and safe sleeping accommodations upon intake.
  3. 1.3Maintain a confidential, trauma-informed environment that promotes physical and emotional safety for all shelter residents.

Support Survivor Healing and Emotional Wellness

Care that meets the mind and the heart, for adults and for the children who came with them.

  1. 2.1Provide crisis intervention and emotional support services to 100% of shelter residents during intake and throughout their stay.
  2. 2.2Offer individual counseling, support groups, and mental health referrals designed to help survivors process trauma and develop healthy coping skills.
  3. 2.3Provide age-appropriate therapeutic support and trauma-informed activities for children exposed to violence or abuse.

Promote Self-Sufficiency and Long-Term Stability

Safety is the beginning. Independence is the goal.

Strengthen Community Awareness and Prevention Efforts

Ending violence takes a community that knows the signs and knows what to do.

  1. 5.1Conduct community outreach and educational programs to increase awareness of domestic violence, abuse prevention, and available support services.
  2. 5.2Provide training opportunities for volunteers, staff, faith-based organizations, and community partners on trauma-informed care and victim advocacy.
  3. 5.3Promote early intervention and prevention strategies aimed at reducing family violence and supporting healthy community relationships.
